Ah Spring! Even for those of us who love a good snowy winter, indeed the changing of all four seasons, Spring is such an enchantment. Rebirth of the woods, emergence of colors, beginning with daffodils poking out of the last remnants of snow. Spring is just so fresh!

Even as the world tumbles around us we take solace as spring arrives unabated, undeterred by the commotion of the planet. A reminder that each day starts anew and offers unlimited possibilities for joy, for enjoying the outdoors, and especially fresh foods. Ramps, fiddlehead ferns (our favorite) and other green delights offer the first respite from root vegetables and heavy rib warming meals.

Spring also brings a renewal of favorite activities. Top for us is more fly-fishing opportunities, more mountain and road biking, and hiking with our retriever Sadie without having to wear yak-traks!

We always try to showcase something different with each issue so we’re diving in to the CT music scene with a loving look by our Playlist author, Sharon Johnson, and photos by Lisa Nichols. We look in depth at Water Street Café in Stonington and Stone Row Kitchen & Bar in the interesting town of Willimantic. And last we visit the family at Saccuzzo Co e in Newington and herald a new way of bringing fresh food and customers together by Rosemary Ostfeld, PhD.
