MISE EN PLACE…

Happy Spring! While March did come in like a lion, to me it feels like a cleansing of the reminders of winter. The rains. The winds. The temperature swings. It feels like setting the stage for the beginning of something new and fresh – Spring.
Speaking of beginnings, we’re happy to note that this issue celebrates the beginning of our eighth year of publishing edible CT EAST! We published our first issue in Spring 2019 (cover shown) and we’re still going strong. We owe it all to you, our treasured readers, and to our loyal supporters of local food and drink who ensure we continue to provide the best of Eastern Connecticut to you.
Good stuff this issue. We’re acknowledging a moment in the sun for Southeast CT Wineries; an elevation of great, Mystic level food, at Milestone, also known as a “neighbor joint”; the welcome expansion of Juliens Farm Store in Juliens Granby; celebrating Puerto Rican food and ambience at Mofongo in Willimantic; and the fabulous handmade jams from Natalie at Wonderland Jam.
Please give a big welcome to new advertiser, Milestone Restaurants, as well as the return of America’s Farmland Trust and D.O. CAVA AND JAMÓN CONSORCIOSERRANO from Europe.
A parting thought from Mother Teresa, “Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today. Let us begin”. It’s comforting to know that we have something we can always rely on, the present moment.
And hopefully, today, for you that means home, friends, family, and of course, food and drink.
With gratitude for all,
R. Shane Kennedy
