Fall Cookbooks We Are Looking Forward To
We asked Annie Philbrick, owner of Bank Square Books in Mystic and Title X: A Bookstore, in New London, what’s on her reading list for fall:
One cookbook I am so looking forward to this fall is Big Heart Little Stove by Erin French who runs The Lost Kitchen in Freedom, Maine. Her 48-seat restaurant in the middle of nowhere in Maine only offers reservations through a snail mail postcard lottery! Their local post office gets thousands. There is also an online shop of fabulous Maine made products.
Alison Roman’s new baking book called Sweet Enough: A Baking Book, is fabulous for bakers. Roman has two other cookbooks, Nothing Fancy and Dining In which are just as fabulously simple and delicious. She knows her stuff and doesn’t over complicate recipes.
These two also deserve a mention.
Invitation to a Banquet: The Story of Chinese Food by Fuschia Dunlop. More of food writing than a cookbook, Dunlop has studied and cooked Chinese food for decades and her knowledge shows in this new book.
Start Here: Instructions for Becoming a Better Cook by Sohla El-Waylly. For those just starting out learning to cook, nothing is better than this book.
Hope you enjoy!
